Efficiency & versatility

An efficient laboratory data management system should minimise data entry by the operator. As much as possible, data entry should be automated to eliminate transcription errors.

Efficiency can also be measured by a system that matches your work-flows, your processes, your operations. “Out-of-the-box” systems may be efficient in data handling, but are not efficient if you have to change all your processes to match fixed requirements.

Efficiency includes:

Automation

Our software allows you to create embedded calculations, data-links and use barcode scanning. Thus, the operator only has to make entries to a limited number of controlled fields.

For example, each data collection form can be configured to include an automatic expiry date based on a preparation date, pass/fail calibration based on acceptance criteria, sign-offs based on permissions/roles, restricted selection of expired/unapproved assets, required barcode scans, device integration and… much more.

In addition, automatic alerts (emails and/or worklists) can be configured. These can be triggered based on any data field property. For example, an expiry alert, required approval alert, low levels of stock remaining. These alerts can be configured by you to be sent to permitted users or user groups (e.g. Calibration Team).

Labels & barcodes

Use of labels with barcodes not only expedites data collection but reduces transcription errors. There’s no need for manual entry if you can scan in a barcode.

Our software fully and seamlessly integrates with BarTender® Software. You will be able to create your own labels for any asset e.g.: a chemical, reagent, analytical standard, etc. Both linear and 2D barcodes are supported using wedge-style scanners

Configurations

An efficient data management system should be versatile. It should allow you to make controlled configurations changes without the need to revert back to the software vendor. For example, you should be able to decide on the segregation of work within the system, you should be able to configure user roles (following your SOPs), it should allow you set-up Application-Folder structure.

Our system is fully configurable. Your system administrators will be able to set-up the system in accordance to your work-flows, your processes, your operations.

Form generation

Core to any efficient and versatile data management system is the ability to create, edit and publish new data collection templates. For compliance to regulatory standards, template generation and modification should also be controlled on a per-user per-role basis.

A form generator application (FormGen) is supplied with our software. FormGen allows you to create, modify and publish data collection templates, if you have appropriate permissions to do so. With FormGen you can create embedded calculations for automated outputs, configure links from one template to another, configure security fields and… much more. Terrington Data Management provides full training for the use of FormGen.
